What is BPC-157?

BPC stands for Body Protection Compound. BPC-157 is a peptide of 15 amino acids, derived from a protein found in your gastric juice.

Yes, your body already produces it naturally. Gastric juice contains a protein from which BPC-157 was first isolated. In the stomach, its role is to protect the lining from acid. But researchers discovered that when applied in higher concentrations, it helps repair tissues far beyond the stomach.

How does BPC-157 help with injuries?

When you have an injury, the body starts a regeneration process. BPC-157 speeds up this process in several ways:

Creates new blood vessels. The damaged area needs more blood in order to receive oxygen and nutrients. BPC-157 stimulates the creation of new vessels exactly where they are needed. More blood = faster healing.

Accelerates collagen production. Collagen is the protein that keeps tendons, ligaments, and joints healthy. You can think of it as the "glue" for connective tissue. BPC-157 increases collagen production in the damaged area.

Reduces inflammation. Inflammation is a normal reaction of the body to injury, but when it continues too long, it slows healing. BPC-157 helps regulate the inflammatory response.

Protects tissues from further damage. Hence the name "Body Protection". The peptide not only helps with repair but also protects the surrounding tissues.

BPC-157 has been studied for a wide range of problems. Here are the most common ones:

Tendons

This is perhaps BPC-157's strongest area. Tendons have very poor blood supply, which is why they heal slowly. BPC-157 creates new blood vessels right there and accelerates collagen production. It is popular for tennis elbow, Achilles tendon, shoulder tendons, and knee tendons.

Muscle injuries

Muscle tears, bruises, sports-related contusions. BPC-157 accelerates the regeneration of muscle fibers and reduces recovery time.

Ligaments and joints

Knee ligament injuries, joint pain, arthritis. BPC-157 supports regeneration of connective tissue and reduces chronic inflammation.

How is BPC-157 taken?

Method of administration

Subcutaneous injection with an insulin needle (very thin, almost painless). You inject as close as possible to the affected area. If your knee hurts, you inject around the knee. If it's the shoulder, around the shoulder. If the problem is internal (stomach), you inject into the abdomen.

Dosage

  • Usual dose: 250-500mcg daily
  • Can be divided into two doses (morning and evening, 250mcg each)
  • Or a single dose of 500mcg
  • Course: 4-6 weeks, can be extended up to 8 weeks for more serious injuries

What does science say?

BPC-157 has over 100 published studies. Data show accelerated healing of tendons, muscles, ligaments, bones, and even nerve damage.

Honest clarification: most studies are on animal models. Human studies exist, but there are fewer of them. This does not mean it doesn't work in humans, but rather that science is still confirming under controlled conditions what thousands of users already report from practice.

Side effects

BPC-157 is considered one of the safest peptides. No serious side effects have been reported in studies. The most common ones: slight redness at the injection site (which passes quickly) and, rarely, mild nausea during the first doses.

Combinations with other peptides
